The Singing Epps are signed up for Creekside 2017!

Over 50 years ago Rachel Epps along with her two sisters, Lois and Ruby birthed what is known today as The Singing Epps Family. A few years after their beginning however Rachel’s sisters married and moved with their husbands to far off locations, leaving Rachel with just her children to continue what they had started. So with Dianne, Haynie, Mary, Susan, and Mike she started with chapter 2 of the family ministry. The family, then strongly influenced by such groups as The Hinson’s, and The Rambo’s, and The Happy Goodman Family soon became a local favorite. Their “downhome”, genuine, lay everything aside style of worship and music was not only witnessed, but expected by their audiences.

However, through the years, each sibling but Haynie would leave the group, leaving Haynie with the same scenario as his mother before him. So Haynie, along with his daughters Wanda, (which was already in the line-up), Angela, and Christy embarked on chapter 3 of the journey.

Sadly, in March of 2008 a well-known, and well-loved William Haynie Epps passed on leaving the legacy to Wanda, Angela, and Christy who were joined by Wanda’s husband Terry, and Christy’s husband Dwayne. Also joining the group were long-time friend Steve Lang, Wanda and Terry’s son Willie, and Terry’s cousin Melissa for what was chapter 4.

Traveling today as The Singing Epps Family are Terry, Wanda, Angela, Willie, Steve, and long-time friend Ed Sullivan. They are still carrying the same mantle that was left by the former members of the group. Audiences, although now internationally, are still witnessing the same electrifying style of worship, and music that had started so many years ago. However, the family will be quick to tell you that it is not for show. “That when the anointing gets on you, you can’t help but be excited!!”

By God’s amazing grace, He has allowed The Singing Epps Family to travel and be a part of events that they had never thought possible. One such honor was winning third place at the 1989 National Quartet Convention Talent Search. Another has been to share the stage with many of the top artists in the industry. And another is to have been on the Shipp Family Gospel Fest line-up on Carnival Cruise Lines for four years.


But they again will be quick to tell you that the greatest honor of all has been for the Lord to have allowed them to bring forth His gospel. Their desire is truly the ministry. To see the lost come to the realization that there is no other way to true peace, nor to salvation but through the blood of Jesus Christ. And to the church that Jesus is alive!! And that we as the church should be excited to serve Him with all our heart!!!

Creekside Welcomes Ava Kasich

Ava started singing professionally at the age of 3 yrs old featured in local churches in the Dallas-Ft Worth area of Texas. Ava loves the Lord with all her heart and it shows in her anointed singing! Her testimony of God’s healing power in her body alone is worth having her come and minister to your Church.

In 1980 she began traveling with Wally Fowler of Nashville, Tenn. as a featured and background vocalist. The group was called Wally Fowler and the Tennessee Top Ten. They traveled throughout the United States performing Southern Gospel Music at major venues.

In 1989 Ava moved to Branson, Missouri and began working with several known artists in the gospel music industry, such as Boxcar Willie and Barbara Fairchild. While in Branson, Ava became a major part in the Branson Gospel Music Association. Not only performing but also helping to bring in new talent to perform in the Branson area.

In 2001 Ava was named the Branson Gospel Female Vocalist of the Year. Since winning that award Ava has been traveling throughout the United States singing Southern Gospel Music in churches and other venues. She has been the opening performer for such known Southern Gospel Talent as, Karen Peck & New River, The Hemphills, and others.

In 2001 Ava recorded and released her first album entitled Singin 4 Him. It was a compilation of old and new Southern Gospel Songs.

In 2003 Ava became a national recording artist with the release of her second album entitled “Try Once Again.” Several songs on this album were released to the national media. They included the title song Try Once Again and He Came Through. These songs are being played throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Asia and the Caribbean. This album was produced by Les Butler of Butler Music Group and Family Music Group and recorded in Nashville, TN. Jason and Aaron Crabb of the Crabb Family were gracious enough to sing back up on two of Ava’s songs on this album.

Not long ago at the National Quartet Convention Ms Dottie Rambo agreed to record two duets with Ava. Dottie was called home to heaven before that happened. Ava has spent most of her time touring throughout the Midwest and Southeastern United States singing and giving her testimony at churches, women’s conferences and other venue’s. She has been seen on National TV on the Jim Bakker Show out of Branson, MO and the Jimmy Snow show in Nashville, TN. She would love to come and lift up the name of Jesus through song at your next event.

In 2009 Ava recorded and released her third album entitled His Grace Is Amazing.

In 2011 Ava recorded and releaser her fourth and newest album entitled Stones.

Ava won the 2012 Beacon Award for Soloist of the year and her new single "Stones" won the 2012 Beacon award for song of the year.

Ava has a wonderful testimony of how God has healed her body that she loves to share with others. Ava has shared the stage with such artist’s as; Marty Robbin’s, Mel Tillis, Merle Haggard, Marty Haggard, Roy Acuff, Willie Nelson, Howard & Vestal Goodman, Johnny Minick, The Florida Boy’s, Gold City, Karen Peck & New River, The Hemphill’s, and the Chuckwagon Gang, as well as others.

Creekside Welcomes Tina Wakefield

My love of music was instilled in me from my Childhood, my Father was a band leader and singer until our salvation when I was 11 years old. My grandparents,parents, aunts, and uncles all played and sang. I started singing for a local nursing home once a week when I was 15 and that is something I do one a month even now. I have played piano for church since I was 16 years old. I am now a Music Minister at Amazing Grace Worship Center in Alabaster, Al where I have served for the last 19 years. I am very excited to have several Cd’s available on my website and to have reached # 67 in the Singing News Charts and #28 on the SGN Scoops charts and also charting in Powersource Gospel. It is a joke that when you join our family, you can choose if you would like to sing, play, teach or preach, but my family is extremely anointed to work in the Kingdom of God, and everyone who joins by marriage eventually is called with a talent. My time and life are spent in a constant relationship with God and how I can be of assistance to Him. Welcome to one of America's Premier NEW Southern Gospel Trios, Faith's Journey! Expect to hear
strongly anointed singing with God's message clearly presented to encourage and lead the lost to Christ. The faces may look familiar as the members have served for many years in different groups and in different capacities, but are now excited about this new chapter. Let me introduce you to Faith’s Journey.

Jonathan Edwards - Baritone, Group Manager
Jonathan was saved at the age of 5 in Humboldt TN where his dad was Pastor. In 1994 his father Zane,
mother Cindy, and brother Benjamin went to Auckland, New Zealand as missionaries through Baptist
Bible College. He attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield Mo where he began his radio career at
KWFC ( 100,000 watt Christian Radio station in Springfield MO). He has worked in Southern Gospel
radio for 14 years and has been nominated the past two years in The Singing News Magazine top 5 DJ’s
in all of America, also the past two years he has been a finalist for Scoops Magazine’s for the coveted
Paul Heil Award. While attending BBC, Jonathan toured with a gospel group called Tribute. He has
served as Youth pastor, Music pastor and Senior Pastor, but his love for Southern Gospel Music keeps
bringing him back to radio and singing. He has traveled with Final Call and The Ascension Quartet before
meeting his wife Deana and forming/owning Faith's Journey.

Deana Edwards – Soprano
Deana Edwards was born in Bratt, Florida and saved at the age of 11 in her home church. She began
singing at the early age of 4 singing harmony with her mother Rose. She began singing with Southern
Heritage, a regional group in the Southeast formed with her mother in 1989, where she remained until
getting married and moving to Branson in 2012. Deana loves music with harmony and never meets
a stranger at a concert. She has three children and is married to Jonathan Edwards. She is extremely
excited to embark on this new chapter in her life with a new ministry serving with her husband on a full
time basis.

Josh Adams- Tenor
Josh was born and raised in Springfield, Mo. At the young age of 8 years old, he began ministering in
song. Josh has a heart for people and the ministry. He is blessed and humbled by the opportunities God
has already given him at such a young age. Josh currently resides in Springfield, Mo, and is very excited
to see what God is doing, and going to do, in the future.

Creekside Gospel Music Convention Welcomes Morris Music Group

Pigeon Forge, TN (February 7, 2014) - SGN Scoops Magazine welcomes a new guest to the 2014 Creekside Gospel Music Convention this November. 2013 Diamond Award Winners Announced At Creekside Gospel Music Convention

Pigeon Forge, TN.(November 5, 2013) – SGN Scoops and Creekside Gospel Music Convention was proud to present the 2013 Diamond Awards on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at the Smoky Mountain Convention Center in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. The gala celebration was hosted by Tim Lovelace and included appearances by Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver, Larry Ford, Jeff and Sheri Easter, Gerald Crabb and many others. The evening was also filmed by WATC, Channel 57 of Atlanta, Georgia, to be aired at a later date.

Golden State Quartet Hosts Old Time Gospel Sing At Creekside Gospel Music Convention

Creekside Gospel Music Convention, Pigeon Forge, TN (July 16, 2013) – Creekside Gospel Music Convention attendees are buzzing about the addition of an exciting new event, Golden State Quartet’s Old Time Gospel Sing, to be held October 30^th in beautiful Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Golden State Quartet will bring their classic Southern Gospel style from California to the Creekside stage along with many of their industry friends, engaging the audience in a fun and nostalgic trip down a musical memory lane.
On Wednesday, October 30^th at 1:30pm, the stage at Creekside will be filled with a choir of Southern Gospel artists and a live band, with Golden State Quartet bringing the Old Time Gospel Sing to life. Special impromptu quartets and trios from the choir will sing Gospel favorites and hymns, filling the hall with the timeless message of the Gospel.
Golden State Quartet began building a reputation of presenting fine Gospel music over 65 years ago and the group continues this tradition today with the release of their latest recording, Look Up. Larry Nardini, group spokesman for Golden State Quartet, says, “It is a great honor to work along with SGNScoops on this project. We are very honored and happy that they have selected us a host group for the Creekside event. We are not only representing ourselves, but most importantly, we are representing God’s mission to us to spread the gospel. Although we’ll have a great time there, we do take our mission seriously. Creekside Gospel Music Convention 2013 Update “Creekside Cares”

Five months away! Who’s counting? ME! I’m getting very excited about the Creekside Gospel Music Convention! We were very pleased with last years’ turn-out, especially considering it was our first convention.  Being that 2012 was a learning experience for me, I’ve excited to work hard to make  2013’s Creekside even better.  There may be a few minor changes here and there, but one thing we are definitely doing again is partnering with a local ministry called, “LIVE-IT.”  Why? Because Creekside Cares!
LIVE-IT is a non-profit organization serving the less fortunate in the Sevier and surrounding counties.
LIVE-IT’s motto is…”Taking the Bible out of the box!” LIVE-IT believes everyone has something to give,
therefore encourage those we help to LIVE-IT Forward and give of their talents.  They help organize
projects giving many schools, church and community groups an opportunity to work together and serve.


The projects benefit both those that give and receive.    The recipients of LIVE-IT’S ministry are sometimes children, sometimes the elderly, disabled veterans, single moms or widows.  Some projects include house, yard and car repair and some projects include gathering and delivering basic survival supplies.  In order to fund these projects, LIVE-IT operates a thrift store and uses profits earned to purchase needed supplies.

Maybe you’re asking- “What does this have to do with gospel music?” I’m glad you asked! By becoming involved with a local ministry during our stay in Pigeon Forge, we’re putting our message that we proclaim into action!  I like to say, “We’re putting hands and feet on the songs we sing!” We can sing about loving God and loving people all day long, but this is a GREAT chance to show it to those outside the doors of the Smoky Mountain Convention Center!

We’re asking our Creekside guests and participants to donate to LIVE-IT’s thrift store during the week
of the Creekside Gospel Music Convention.  LIVE-IT will bring a truck to collect donations- all you have to
do is give.   Items needed are used clothing, used jewelry, shoes, accessories such as ties, scarves, shoes,
belts etc.  Other items needed are books, CD’s, games, toys and general household items.   I realize
some of our guests will be traveling long distances, but ANY donation is appreciated! I was really proud of the participation we had last year. In fact, LIVE-IT later received donations from guest that had planned on coming, but got caught in the bad weather and couldn’t make it.  Many of our guests gave items.  So…. Come on, Southern Gospel artists and fans… Let’s stock the LIVE-IT thrift store and leave Pigeon Forge a better place!

We’re looking forward to a great week all together. Monday night will be a special night to honor legendary, Ed O’Neal, Tuesday night will be the Diamond Awards.  We’re hosting the Pauline Patterson

The 2012 Creekside Gospel Music Convention came to a close, Wednesday, October 31, but great
memories are etched in hearts and minds forever! Friendships were made; achievements were
celebrated as well as awards were presented. We experienced an incredible three days and are already
looking forward to next year’s Creekside Gospel Music Convention! Dates for next year’s event are
October 28, 29, 30. We will gather again in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee at the Smoky Mountain Convention
Center.

The Creekside Gospel Music Convention got started off right with prayer and then announcements.
Paul Danis of LIVE-IT spoke briefly about their work in Sevier County and expressed gratefulness for the
raised awareness of the ministry and for the items donated. Channing Eleton then set the tone for the
evening with a beautiful piano prelude.

Phil Cross, Chariot, Promise, Kingston Drive and Channing Eleton blessed the crowd before the
Celebration for Ms. Lou Hildreth began. At 7:00, Channing started the Celebration with “Joyful, Joyful”
and then the evening’s host, Tim Lovelace was introduced. J.P.Miller, coordinator of the night’s
program shared a few comments regarding Lou Hildreth, and then Ms. Lou thanked everyone for
attending.

Many friends and family gathered to honor Lou Hildreth for 75 years of outstanding service in the
Gospel Music Industry. Many industry dignitaries were present including representatives from the
Singing News, Christian Voice, Homecoming Magazine and Southern Gospel Times. There was great
music including performances by Phil Cross, Ann Downing, The Blackwoods, Clayton Inman, David
Sutton, Jeff Stice, the Southmen and Ava Kasich as well as memorable video clip messages from Larry
Gatlin, Larry Ford and Bill Gaither. There were special presentations from Dr. Jim Moss, a founder of
PTL, Rick Francis of Singing News Magazine and John Lanier of Christian Voice Magazine.

Smiling continuously, it was obvious Ms. Lou enjoyed every performance, every kind word spoken
and each presentation given! Ms. Lou shares, “My heart is overflowing with THANKS to Rob Patz,
President Coastal Media, and Rhonda Frye, Editor-In-Chief of SGNScoops, for honoring me with
the "Celebration Of 75 Years In Gospel Music.” JP Miller, my TV co-host, helped coordinate the
event, and I basked in the fabulous artists, their music, and their tributes. Pat Mathis and her crew
from Atlanta's TV 57, WATC, taped this memorable evening for a TV special to be shown later. Howard
and I joined our son David, daughter Kathryn, and many family members who were there, in gratitude to
all who joined us in celebrating. May the Glory go to our Heavenly Father who blesses beyond anything
we can ask or imagine!”

There couldn’t been a more fitting closure to the celebration than reading of scripture followed by
worship. Ellen Moss, wife of Dr. Jim Moss held the crowd captivated as she read God’s Word. Many
artists and family members squeezed onto the stage for a finale of “Bless The Lord, Oh My Soul/ How
Great Thou Art” medley.

Reflecting on the special celebration, J.P. Miller shares, “What a great time we had honoring Lou
Hildreth. Artists, fans, and Industry professionals piled into Pigeon Forge to pay tribute to a founder of
the industry we have today. Lou's life is a life lived to bless the Lord.”

Great Gospel Music followed Ms. Lou’s Celebration with performances by Declaration Trio and more.
It was truly an incredible first day at Creekside!

Early Tuesday morning, a few brave souls braved the chilly weather and enjoyed a chapel service.
John Mathis Jr. challenged participants with a message of “Being Faithful In The Small Things.” By noon,
Gospel Music filled the Convention Center once again with performances by Faith’s Journey, Lindsay
Huggins, Jim Sheldon, Logan Smith, Chariot, Shannon Knight and many more wonderful artists! Music
continued throughout the afternoon, right up until time for the Diamond Awards Show.

Excitement filled the room as special guest performers arrived. It was truly a great time of fellowship
and posing for pictures! Special Performances by Watts, Rowsey and Bean, Phil Stacey, the Griffins plus
more kept the audience blessed and entertained leading up to the Diamond Awards Show.

After a few opening words from the owner of Creekside Gospel Music Convention, Rob Patz, the
hosts for the evening, Christy Sutherland and Daniel Ball took the reins of the program. The night
included humor along with great performances from Christy Sutherland, The Ball Brothers, Promise, Phil

Music Group include radio promotions, song publishing under Patterson Publishing, the Southern Gospel

Times ezine, and publicity for artists on the radio promotions roster.

Patterson Music Group’s artists will take the stage from 10:00 AM until 2:00 on Tuesday, October 29.

Special guests will include Phil Cross, the Hoskins Family and many more! Remember, this event as well

as all other events are free to the public.

The Diamond Awards Show will take place during the Creekside Gospel Music Convention too! We’re

working diligently to put together an outstanding program. Remember, the fans choose the winners,

so make sure you start voting with Round One. Round One nominations open on Monday, February

18. Please vote and then encourage your friends, family and fans to as well. We encourage all artists to

send the link in newsletters and post it on websites and all social media outlets.

Sharing the gospel is truly at the core of the Creekside Gospel Music Convention! Now is the time to

organize special church groups to attend! And please know, Creekside Gospel Music Convention will

serve again as a collection location for a local ministry called, “Live-It!” Live-It is a non-profit ministry

serving the less fortunate in Sevier and surrounding counties. We had a great response from last year’s

guests and participants and we’re asking everyone to not come to Creekside empty handed. Live-It

will provide a truck to receive donations of items including used clothing, jewelry, books, toys, shoes,

fashion accessories and music CDS! All items collected will be used for re-sale in LIVE-IT’S thrift store,

profits earned purchases needed products and supplies to those in desperate need.

Creekside Gospel Music Convention 2012

The 2012 Creekside Gospel Music Convention came to a close, Wednesday, October 31, but great
memories are etched in hearts and minds forever! Friendships were made; achievements were
celebrated as well as awards were presented. We experienced an incredible three days and are already
looking forward to next year’s Creekside Gospel Music Convention! Dates for next year’s event are
October 28, 29, 30. We will gather again in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee at the Smoky Mountain Convention
Center.

The Creekside Gospel Music Convention got started off right with prayer and then announcements.
Paul Danis of LIVE-IT spoke briefly about their work in Sevier County and expressed gratefulness for the
raised awareness of the ministry and for the items donated. Channing Eleton then set the tone for the
evening with a beautiful piano prelude.

Phil Cross, Chariot, Promise, Kingston Drive and Channing Eleton blessed the crowd before the
Celebration for Ms. Lou Hildreth began. At 7:00, Channing started the Celebration with “Joyful, Joyful”
and then the evening’s host, Tim Lovelace was introduced. J.P.Miller, coordinator of the night’s
program shared a few comments regarding Lou Hildreth, and then Ms. Lou thanked everyone for
attending.

Many friends and family gathered to honor Lou Hildreth for 75 years of outstanding service in the
Gospel Music Industry. Many industry dignitaries were present including representatives from the
Singing News, Christian Voice, Homecoming Magazine and Southern Gospel Times. There was great
music including performances by Phil Cross, Ann Downing, The Blackwoods, Clayton Inman, David
Sutton, Jeff Stice, the Southmen and Ava Kasich as well as memorable video clip messages from Larry
Gatlin, Larry Ford and Bill Gaither. There were special presentations from Dr. Jim Moss, a founder of
PTL, Rick Francis of Singing News Magazine and John Lanier of Christian Voice Magazine.

Smiling continuously, it was obvious Ms. Lou enjoyed every performance, every kind word spoken
and each presentation given! Ms. Lou shares, “My heart is overflowing with THANKS to Rob Patz,
President Coastal Media, and Rhonda Frye, Editor-In-Chief of SGNScoops, for honoring me with
the "Celebration Of 75 Years In Gospel Music.” JP Miller, my TV co-host, helped coordinate the
event, and I basked in the fabulous artists, their music, and their tributes. Pat Mathis and her crew
from Atlanta's TV 57, WATC, taped this memorable evening for a TV special to be shown later. Howard
and I joined our son David, daughter Kathryn, and many family members who were there, in gratitude to
all who joined us in celebrating. May the Glory go to our Heavenly Father who blesses beyond anything
we can ask or imagine!”

There couldn’t been a more fitting closure to the celebration than reading of scripture followed by
worship. Ellen Moss, wife of Dr. Jim Moss held the crowd captivated as she read God’s Word. Many
artists and family members squeezed onto the stage for a finale of “Bless The Lord, Oh My Soul/ How
Great Thou Art” medley.

Reflecting on the special celebration, J.P. Miller shares, “What a great time we had honoring Lou
Hildreth. Artists, fans, and Industry professionals piled into Pigeon Forge to pay tribute to a founder of
the industry we have today. Lou's life is a life lived to bless the Lord.”

Great Gospel Music followed Ms. Lou’s Celebration with performances by Declaration Trio and more.
It was truly an incredible first day at Creekside!

Early Tuesday morning, a few brave souls braved the chilly weather and enjoyed a chapel service.
John Mathis Jr. challenged participants with a message of “Being Faithful In The Small Things.” By noon,
Gospel Music filled the Convention Center once again with performances by Faith’s Journey, Lindsay
Huggins, Jim Sheldon, Logan Smith, Chariot, Shannon Knight and many more wonderful artists! Music
continued throughout the afternoon, right up until time for the Diamond Awards Show.

Excitement filled the room as special guest performers arrived. It was truly a great time of fellowship
and posing for pictures! Special Performances by Watts, Rowsey and Bean, Phil Stacey, the Griffins plus
more kept the audience blessed and entertained leading up to the Diamond Awards Show.

After a few opening words from the owner of Creekside Gospel Music Convention, Rob Patz, the
hosts for the evening, Christy Sutherland and Daniel Ball took the reins of the program. The night
included humor along with great performances from Christy Sutherland, The Ball Brothers, Promise, Phil
Stacey, Declaration, Ann Downing, Watts, Rowsey & Bean, The Williamsons, Logan Smith, David Bryan,
The Porter Family, and Faith’s Journey.

The Diamond Awards in years past has taken a special interest in featuring brand new groups. This
year’s show was no exception. A brand new group, Crosby Lane made their debut and an incredible first
impression. Crosby Lane was received well by the audience.

During the Diamond Awards Show, there was a special acoustic act by two special multi-Diamond
Award Winners who are also songwriter/ artist plus father/ son. Gerald and Jason Crabb moved the
audience with a tender performance of “Sometimes I Cry!” In fact, it was so special; they sang it twice
and the crowd completely “ate it up!” What an experience!

A tearful, yet poised and composed Sheri Easter shared the story of how songwriters Joel Lindsey and
Wayne Haun came to her home as she battled breast cancer and penned the Diamond Award Song of
the Year, “Hear My Heart.” Sheri performed the song beautifully and flawlessly and the crowd loved it!

Throughout the night, final nominees and award winners were announced in 23 different categories.
The Diamond Awards are fan based, fan driven! Be sure to read the complete list of 2012 Diamond
Award Winners, located in this issue of SGNScoops magazine as well as SGNScoops.com. The opening
round of nominations will begin Monday, February 18, 2013. The winners will be announced during the
Creekside Gospel Music Convention 2013.

Fellowship and more gospel music continued following the Diamond Awards bringing day two of the
Creekside Gospel Music Convention to a close.

Wednesday morning, John Mathis Jr. encouraged hearts with a powerful message about the Power of
the Gospel! He reminded us; the simple message of the gospel still penetrates hearts and changes lives.

On Wednesday afternoon and evening, many incredible artists claimed the stage and brought the
house down! Creekside Gospel Music Convention presented fresh and new faces on Wednesday and
other times during the three-day event. What talent was displayed and what sweet spirits rejoiced in
the presence of God! There were several “God-bump” producing performances, for sure!

Ms. Saran Chumley of Renaissance Revival gave an astounding performance of “We Shall Behold
Him” resulting in a standing ovation. Lindsey Huggins made us all proud to be Americans as she sang
“God Bless America” with conviction, beauty and power. Omega teamed up with Kevin Harry delivering
a mighty “Midnight Cry” and Omega, Ally and Rhonda Frye joined Lisa Herald for a hand-clappin’ foot
stompin’ “This Little Light of Mine.”

During the Convention also performing was Bev McCan, Pine Ridge Boys, Hearts of Faith, Renaissance
Revival, In His Image Quartet, Reflection of Grace, Promise, Tony Corner, Paul Parr, Ava Kasich, Ally &
Rhonda Frye, Redemption Road, Truth Trio, and Mark Aldred. Although there is not enough space to
adequately describe each performance, it is safe to say each artist during the entire event gave 100% of
their hearts and souls and performed with excellence!

To sum up the 2012 Creekside Gospel Music Convention….“sweet spirit” comes to mind. This was our
first event, and the sweet spirit of cooperation, flexibility and love toward one another truly ruled. We
believe 2012 was just the beginning and God has great things in store!

There are many people to be thanked! Thank you to Andrea Thone and the entire staff at Smoky
Mountain Convention Center. This staff went over and above exceeding all expectations in the months
leading up to the convention and extended excellence the entire three days!

Thank you to Paul Danis of LIVE-IT for allowing us to partner with your ministry. Also, thank you to
each person that made a donation to this ministry, it was deeply appreciated!

2012 DIAMOND AWARD WINNERS ANNOUNCED AT CREEKSIDE GOSPEL MUSIC CONVENTION

SEATTLE, Wa. SGN Scoops presented the 2012 Diamond Awards
at the inaugural Creekside Gospel Music Convention on October 30 at Pigeon Forge,
Tennessee. The awards ceremony was hosted by Daniel Ball of the Ball Brothers along
with singer/songwriter Christy Sutherland and graced with such talent as Gerald and
Jason Crabb, Jeff and Sheri Easter, Phil Stacey, Crosby Lane, David Bryan and Watts,
Rowsey and Bean and several others.

“The Diamond Awards was a wonderful time of uplifting and encouraging the talented
artists in Christian music,” said Rob Patz, CEO of Coastal Media Group and publisher
of SGN Scoops. “We were honored by incredible performances by all of our featured
artists, as well as great hosting by Christy and Daniel. It’s always an event geared to the

History of the Diamond Awards

The prestigious Diamond Awards have a history of over 20 years, recognizing the best in Gospel Music from coast to coast. Many of today’s top artists have received Diamond nominations and awards, from Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver to the Booth Brothers to the Hoppers. We are pleased to salute Christian artists who strive to use their talent to the best of their ability and to God’s glory.

The Diamond Awards began in 1991, hosted by Allen Smith and the Gospel Voice Magazine. A Pastor with over 40 years in the ministry, Rev. Allen Smith became involved in Southern Gospel music through concert promotion in the churches where he was ministering. In the mid-90’s he began as a DJ in a radio station in DeSoto, Missouri. He and his church started a southern gospel magazine, which grew quickly and became the Southern Gospel News Magazine. A weekly email newsletter followed, SGN Scoops Ezine. Today the publication is known as SGN Scoops Digital Magazine, and is owned by Coastal Media Group and Rob Patz.

The Diamond Awards were unique at their inception, as the awards are totally fan based. Fans are involved from the initial nominations right to the final choosing of the recipient. These awards were the first to offer online ballots, allowing all fans access to the voting procedure. They were also the first to introduce Industry and Artist Favorite Website Awards, and the first to have a Favorite Duet Award.

This awards program is also known for its support of regional groups, which can and do receive nominations and awards. Regional groups are also a part of the awards ceremony, a program that hosts some of the finest talent in Southern Gospel. The ceremony itself is designed to be a program of recognition but also of worship, as all participants are present to give all the glory to God.

Just as Allen Smith was seen as an industry innovator, Coastal Media Group and SGN Scoops work diligently to find new ways to promote Southern Gospel music. Keeping the Diamond Awards fan-based as Smith intended is a priority, as it is important for SGN Scoops to recognize the voice of Gospel music audience and to reflect that in the Diamond Awards. However, the main priority is to recognize the incredible talent of the Gospel artists and to thank the Lord that they are using this talent for His glory.

Declaration and Promise To Appear At The Creekside Gospel Music Convention

Seattle, WA (October 16, 2012) – SGN Scoops and Coastal Media Group are pleased to announce the appearance of 2012 Diamond Award nominees Declaration and Promise at Creekside Gospel Music Convention, October 29-31, 2012. These talented male trios have made a splash in Southern Gospel in the last two years and Creekside welcomes the addition of their strong, traditional tight harmonies. Promise and Declaration join an exciting lineup of artists at the Pigeon Forge event, which is free to all attendees.
From Knoxville, Tennessee, Promise is a trio with experienced vocalists and a professional presentation. Fresh from an appearance on the main stage at the National Quartet Convention in Louisville, Kentucky, this group brings a youthful edge to the Creekside program.
“Promise is thrilled to be able to attend and be a part of the first ever Creekside Gospel Music Convention,” said founder and lead singer David Mann. “We’re thrilled with the privilege of sharing the platform with some of Southern Gospel’s best. Declaration’s members have a solid background in Southern Gospel and exhibit a dedication to excellence in vocal talent. This up-and-coming young trio from Nashville tours with The Booth Brothers and an energetic presentation that will thrill all ages.
